Hello, Colleen.
Colleen
00:00:01 – 00:00:02
Hey, Aaron.
Aaron
00:00:02 – 00:00:15
We are back, and you are brimming with excitement. I think you texted me last night, and you already had a title for the episode even though we haven't recorded. I think I think you're hyped again. So what is going on over there?
Colleen
00:00:15 – 00:00:29
I am so hyped. So this week, we have started all of the customer interviews that I'll call warm leads. People who filled out the form, They saw your tweet or my tweet, and they filled out the form saying they were interested.
Aaron
00:00:29 – 00:00:29
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:00:29 – 00:00:39
And so this week has been the first round of calls with those people, and it has gone so well. Just I mean, just so well.
Aaron
00:00:39 – 00:00:41
Like, I can't even I can't even tell you
Colleen
00:00:42 – 00:00:59
how amazing it feels to get on a call with someone, listen to their problem, show them what we have already built, and then to say literally the words the guy yesterday said, this is exactly what I would expect a report builder that I show my customers to look like.
Aaron
00:00:59 – 00:01:01
Yeah. That feels pretty good.
Colleen
00:01:01 – 00:01:06
Felt good. Like, I even lost my, like, kind of serious Colleen because I was just so happy.
Aaron
00:01:06 – 00:01:08
I was just like, yes.
Aaron
00:01:09 – 00:01:09
Yeah.
Colleen
00:01:10 – 00:01:14
What I've been hoping to hear for so long now, it feels great.
Aaron
00:01:14 – 00:01:15
It's different,
Colleen
00:01:15 – 00:01:16
It's different.
Aaron
00:01:16 – 00:01:17
So let
Aaron
00:01:17 – 00:01:38
me let me let me read to the audience the text that I got from you last night. Let's see. Colleen Schnettler. We haven't even recorded yet, but I've decided tomorrow's episode should be titled On the Precipice of Something Great. Yeah.
Aaron
00:01:38 – 00:01:46
So that's the title. I mean, obviously, that's the title, but I just I just love it when you get pumped up. It just makes me so happy.
Colleen
00:01:47 – 00:02:05
Oh, man. It has just been so such a great week, and I sent you that last night because that's exactly what it feels like. Mhmm. Like, we're just, like, right there. We are climbing the mountain, and things are, you know, things are clicking, and we're so close.
Colleen
00:02:05 – 00:02:08
And I am just thrilled. Just thrilled.
Aaron
00:02:08 – 00:02:24
Okay. So I wanna I I wanna talk, feelings about that. But tell us how many how many calls have you had this week? And I think the the big thing is that they're different. Like, we're not just reaching out and being like, do you have a data problem?
Aaron
00:02:24 – 00:02:36
Because that was kinda devastating. But these are these are people that saw the screenshot that I tweeted one way or another and self selected. And so how many of those have you done this week?
Colleen
00:02:36 – 00:02:40
3 so far, and I have 2 more and one next week.
Aaron
00:02:40 – 00:02:48
Okay. Okay. And of of these, these are the the people that are saying, yeah. This is exactly what I would be looking for. Right?
Colleen
00:02:48 – 00:03:20
Yes. So the 3 we have had this week, all of those people responded very positive positively to what we are building, showing them the demo, and it seems to meet their needs really well. And that's why I'm excited. The other thing I'm really excited about is the people who have come inbound, they're exactly what we originally thought. Like, they're data heavy companies, and they're just, you know, they're they're in the recycling space, in the building space,
Aaron
00:03:20 – 00:03:20
in the
Colleen
00:03:20 – 00:03:26
supply management space. They just have a ton of data. And this has always been
Aaron
00:03:26 – 00:03:30
data heavy normie businesses has always been the vision.
Colleen
00:03:30 – 00:03:56
Yes. So it was really so it was twofold. It was twofold exciting. Of course, it's great to get on a call with someone, them to tell you they have this problem and you to show them what we're building, and and they're excited about it, that's great. But it felt even more you know, it felt, great also to then learn about their businesses and see that they are all in this, like, data heavy space because I think that's really where we're gonna fit in really well.
Aaron
00:03:56 – 00:04:12
So talk to me about data heavy. What is it what is the data that they're wanting to report on? Is it mostly like like, workflow process data or customer data? Or what's the kind of without, you know, giving away their businesses, what's the kind of stuff they're doing?
Colleen
00:04:12 – 00:04:31
So it depends on the company, obviously. But what I'm hearing is that the people who are coming to us, their customers know what they want. They know the data they want. It's a lot of manufacturing data, supply data, like inventory data, things like that. There's also someone who, you know, had a lot of company data.
Colleen
00:04:31 – 00:04:42
So his customers are companies, and they have a lot of data about their employees. And so all of that is is kind of what I have been hearing so far.
Aaron
00:04:42 – 00:05:05
So it's like almost I mean, it's almost like exactly what we were doing at Resolute, which is the property tax company I was at a long time ago. It's like CRM, ERP, like, basically, all of just the data that runs the whole normie business, people are wanting to, like, get all of that out somehow.
Colleen
00:05:05 – 00:05:20
It's very similar. I would say these companies seem very similar to Resolute. Yeah. And some other really interesting things that came out of these calls. Several people said that they were looking at or they had tried Microsoft Power BI.
Aaron
00:05:20 – 00:05:21
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:05:21 – 00:05:32
And so I think that might be an interesting way to position ourselves as you can actually figure out how to use us as opposed to Power BI,
Aaron
00:05:32 – 00:05:35
which no one can figure out how to use, by the way.
Colleen
00:05:35 – 00:05:44
And these are smart people, and everyone is just like, what is the deal? The reason I bring this up is because when we look at the landscape of, let's just say, business intelligence tools
Aaron
00:05:44 – 00:05:45
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:05:45 – 00:06:16
What I am hearing people do is they don't know what to do when they need a embedded business intelligence tool, and so everyone has heard of Power BI. Mhmm. So everyone's just like, oh, maybe I can solve this with Power BI. And if you actually Google, like, business intelligence tools, you're just like it's like the Internet is screaming at you with all of these sponsored ads that are really hard to understand, and you don't know what any of these companies do. And so I just feel like there's such an opportunity for clear, concise, this is what we do.
Colleen
00:06:16 – 00:06:18
This is how you get your data out.
Aaron
00:06:18 – 00:06:41
Right. This is what we do. This is what we don't do. There aren't you know, you don't have to get a certification in us to to, like, get this thing to work in your app because, you know, they're definitely Power BI certifications and classes and stuff like that. And that means we will not be right for a certain section of people, and that's that's totally fine.
Aaron
00:06:42 – 00:06:47
I think the other nice thing about everybody looking at Power BI is Power BI is freaking expensive.
Colleen
00:06:48 – 00:06:52
I know. I was gonna say that. It's a great it's a great baseline.
Aaron
00:06:52 – 00:06:54
Yes. So expensive.
Colleen
00:06:54 – 00:07:21
It's one of those it's just crazy expensive. So whenever anyone says Looker, Power BI, Tableau, I'm like, you know those start at several $1,000 a month. Like, it is it's a very, very expensive product. And one of the other interest lots of interesting things. I think kind of finally finding our people has has really you know, in the early days, people always say to you, people who are trying to give you business advice, like, oh, just listen to what your customers say and use that in your copy.
Colleen
00:07:21 – 00:07:39
But if you're talking to everyone like we were, then there was no, you know, there was really no funneling down of of words that people used over and over. And so one of the interesting things that came out talking to these kind of data heavy companies is their customers don't really need or want charts and graphs.
Aaron
00:07:40 – 00:07:41
Mhmm. Gotcha.
Colleen
00:07:41 – 00:07:44
One of the I know. Right? So it's funny because I was on
Aaron
00:07:44 – 00:07:45
so much.
Colleen
00:07:47 – 00:08:00
I was on the call last night, and the person asked me if we were gonna add charts and graphs. And I said, if you would ask me that a week ago, I would have said yes. Definitely. And now I'm like, I don't think so. Like, I think that is gonna be what separates us.
Colleen
00:08:00 – 00:08:01
I even wrote down a new h one.
Aaron
00:08:01 – 00:08:02
Oh, I
Colleen
00:08:02 – 00:08:13
love it. Not on our website. I just wrote it down in my notes. Maybe, eventually, we'll go, like, straight Basecamp, and our controversial opinion will be your users don't want charts and graphs. They just want their data.
Aaron
00:08:13 – 00:08:15
That's that's a hot take. I like
Aaron
00:08:15 – 00:08:18
that. Take. Yeah. Let's just let's just go in on that hot take.
Aaron
00:08:18 – 00:08:20
Yeah. I really like that.
Colleen
00:08:20 – 00:08:44
So I I think that was really great to learn because this is something that has concerned me because I have seen the competitors in the BI space, and I'm like, oh my gosh. These dashboards they do. The freaking dashboards. Everyone must want it. And I think there is a perception that my customers want, like, not our customers, but our customers' customers are like, oh, I think they want charts and graphs.
Colleen
00:08:44 – 00:08:48
And then when you give it to them, it's not actually what they want. They just want their data.
Aaron
00:08:48 – 00:09:05
Correct. That makes me so happy because you know what I don't wanna do is build a 1000000 different charts and graphs that are infinitely configurable. So that's great. Maybe we have to do something someday, but for now, that's great. And also, red hot take.
Aaron
00:09:05 – 00:09:11
I love it. That's the best h one. I think I think we should go with that, eventually.
Aaron
00:09:11 – 00:09:12
Eventually.
Aaron
00:09:12 – 00:09:16
Oh, man. Just, you know, ups and downs, Colleen.
Colleen
00:09:17 – 00:09:32
Right? Oh, isn't it? It's so funny because at my coworking space, like, you know, I have lunch with my coworking friends every day, and so they've just been on the roller coaster with me. I feel like this the other day after we got I had 2 calls in a row. I think you were on one of them.
Colleen
00:09:32 – 00:09:37
So I had 2 in a row that day. And once I got off the second one, I was, like, walking around the conference room.
Aaron
00:09:37 – 00:09:40
I was so excited, and I was making all this noise. And they were looking
Aaron
00:09:40 – 00:09:41
at me.
Aaron
00:09:41 – 00:09:42
People Yeah. Yeah.
Aaron
00:09:42 – 00:09:45
Pushing kids into lockers like, I'm the boss here.
Colleen
00:09:47 – 00:10:04
Yeah. Another thing I think is gonna break us out from the competitors is embedded first. Yeah. What I am noticing is all of our competitors are trying to embedded was an afterthought for all of them. Like, none of them they built their thing, and then they were like, oh, people might wanna embed this, and then they embedded it.
Colleen
00:10:04 – 00:10:08
Like, it wasn't it it wasn't built in from the ground up.
Aaron
00:10:08 – 00:10:08
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:10:08 – 00:10:22
And I think our offering, like, our tight offering is embedded first. No charts and graphs. Just your day just your data in a table. And that feels very crispy, I guess. It's not, like, super clear, but it feels very focused.
Colleen
00:10:22 – 00:10:26
Right? Like, we are embedded first. You can use it internally? Sure. That's great.
Colleen
00:10:26 – 00:10:33
You can use it for your customers? That's great. But we aren't trying to hit all these segments of, the market. Like, that's what we do.
Aaron
00:10:34 – 00:10:43
Yeah. Yeah. I like that. And everyone that we've talked to wants it embedded. Like, all the people that, you know, maybe that's a selection bias because they saw that it was embedded on the tweet.
Aaron
00:10:43 – 00:10:53
But everybody's like, yeah, I need this in my app. I don't wanna make I don't wanna make my customers go to some third party thing to, like, get their data out of my app. That's weird.
Colleen
00:10:53 – 00:10:57
Yeah. Yeah. You wanna say anything? Because I still have more on this
Aaron
00:10:57 – 00:10:59
list that I wanna talk about, but
Aaron
00:10:59 – 00:11:01
I feel like I should be taking a crap. Thoughtful of you. Yeah. That's
Aaron
00:11:01 – 00:11:04
You're welcome. I wanna say something. Cofounder.
Aaron
00:11:04 – 00:11:05
Yeah. You are.
Aaron
00:11:05 – 00:11:05
You too.
Aaron
00:11:06 – 00:11:27
What an opportunity I've been given to say something. Yeah. I I wanna talk feelings for a second. It feels really weird. So we've been doing this for approximately 1000 years at this point, and it feels weird to have people look at something and be like, yeah, that's that's exactly what I want.
Aaron
00:11:27 – 00:11:47
Oh, it's a couple $100 a month. That sounds great. How soon can I have it? That feels really weird, because for the longest time, we've just been wandering around in the desert, and it's it feels good, but I'm I feel like I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it. I'm like, wait, is this working?
Aaron
00:11:47 – 00:12:00
Like, have we gotten to a point where we have found we have found something that people need and are willing to pay a lot of money for? And, like, is this actually gonna happen? Do you feel any of that?
Colleen
00:12:00 – 00:12:18
I think I feel less of that because I'm doing the calls. So, like, every day this week, I have had someone tell me like, over email too. I just told you about the calls, but I'm getting it. I sent you the email this morning. So I think I feel the disbelief less because people are actually saying it to me, and I keep hearing it.
Aaron
00:12:18 – 00:12:19
Yeah.
Colleen
00:12:19 – 00:12:20
It is very, very exciting.
Aaron
00:12:21 – 00:12:22
Mhmm. I am
Colleen
00:12:22 – 00:12:28
it was funny. I was thinking this last night. Like, I may have moved from cautiously optimistic to just straight up optimistic.
Aaron
00:12:28 – 00:12:31
Wow. That's a big change. I like that.
Colleen
00:12:32 – 00:12:39
Yeah. It is and and, you know, we wouldn't have gotten here if we hadn't wandered in the desert
Aaron
00:12:40 – 00:12:47
for a while. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. You know, whatever, broken road that led me straight to you, but, like, I would have I would have preferred to just get here immediately.
Aaron
00:12:47 – 00:12:49
That would have been way more awesome, But
Colleen
00:12:50 – 00:12:52
yeah. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait.
Aaron
00:12:52 – 00:12:53
Wait. Do you listen to
Aaron
00:12:53 – 00:12:58
country music? Absolutely not. You just quoted me country music. I'll just have you know.
Aaron
00:12:58 – 00:13:09
Here's the deal. I live in Texas, and I went to Texas A&M. And you just you just can't escape it in in public places. And so I'm familiar with some of the the mega hits of which that is 1, I'm sure.
Aaron
00:13:09 – 00:13:11
Of which that is 1. Yes.
Colleen
00:13:11 – 00:13:19
Yeah. Of course, it would have been nice to get here faster or sooner. And, you know, it here is is still precarious.
Aaron
00:13:19 – 00:13:22
Yeah. Like, don't give us money yet.
Aaron
00:13:22 – 00:13:25
We have a lot of risk left. We have a lot of execution risk left.
Colleen
00:13:25 – 00:13:30
There's still a lot of execution risk. Yeah. And we'll see.
Aaron
00:13:30 – 00:13:30
We
Colleen
00:13:30 – 00:13:46
will. But, man, I I feel like this just really feels like it's working. Like, people are seeing it. And if they have concerns or questions, they're so minor and feels feels like this is the thing. This feels
Aaron
00:13:46 – 00:13:47
So feels good.
Aaron
00:13:48 – 00:14:05
New new plan for the next business we do, we don't start a podcast until we reach this point. We reach this point, then we're like, hey, let's start a podcast talking about how we're gonna figure stuff out. And then it's like, oh, wow, everything works immediately. So just a little branding exercise for next time.
Aaron
00:14:05 – 00:14:07
Good plan. Good plan. I like it.
Aaron
00:14:07 – 00:14:08
What else is on your list?
Colleen
00:14:08 – 00:14:24
Okay. So yeah. So I wanna talk about content. This is a great one for us to talk about because you actually do content in your full time job, but I am going to be doing content for Hello Query. So I that I shared with you have put together kind of a content list.
Colleen
00:14:25 – 00:14:38
But I think what I'm I don't wanna say but I think. I what seems to be happening in the BI world is it's you're overwhelmed with big enterprise tools, and it's really hard to sift through them.
Aaron
00:14:38 – 00:14:38
Love it already.
Colleen
00:14:39 – 00:15:02
So I thought, to start, I would use them. Like, I'd embed them in a working application and just write content about the challenges and the struggles and, like, compare like, my first, I was saying I would just do Tableau versus Microsoft BI. So I just kinda wanted to get your I guess what I'm saying is I'm creating content about something I am not an expert. I am not a data scientist. Yep.
Colleen
00:15:02 – 00:15:12
But maybe that's good because I've never used Tableau before. And, you know, I've joined the infiltrating the Tableau developer Slack. I'll have you know.
Aaron
00:15:12 – 00:15:13
So I'll just steal them away.
Aaron
00:15:14 – 00:15:18
Expect you queen for life in the next, like, 1 month. I guarantee you.
Colleen
00:15:19 – 00:15:29
And, So I wanted to get your your kind of advice on writing content about something I don't know anything about. Do you think this is the right way to approach it?
Aaron
00:15:30 – 00:15:42
Yeah. So a couple questions. Are you asking is this the right way to approach it in terms of content selection? Like, is this the thing you should be writing about? Or have you decided this is the thing you're writing about?
Aaron
00:15:42 – 00:15:44
Is this the right way to approach writing about that thing?
Colleen
00:15:44 – 00:16:00
The second one. This is what I'm gonna write about, like Microsoft BI alternatives, because that's what people are googling. But am I approaching it the right way? Like and the reason I bring this up is because the time not that I'm gonna become an expert, but, you know, I wanna get my hands dirty, and I wanna play with it. That's gonna take time.
Colleen
00:16:00 – 00:16:08
Like, for me to speak intelligently about what you can do with it, feels slow. Right? Because I'm a beginner. Right. And so do you think this is the right way to approach it?
Aaron
00:16:08 – 00:16:47
Yes. So in my opinion, I think you have a unique advantage in that you are not the expert, and so you don't have all that blindness of like, I'm gonna skip over the first 35 steps because I've been doing this for 10 years. Right? And I think that can be, like, that can be a an advantage for us because the people we're going after presumably don't know very much about it either and are trying to get it, you know, installed, embedded, working for the first time maybe. Or or they're business owners and they're like, I don't wanna be a embedded BI expert, and so you can't speak to me as if I am one because I'm super not.
Aaron
00:16:48 – 00:17:33
So that, I think, can lead to a good point of view in the content. And so, I would lean into that and maybe even do like the beginner's guide, because I don't know what the content like, I don't know what the content, landscape looks like. But if it's anything like the database content landscape, it's experts writing content for other experts and giving conference talks for other experts. And it's like, yeah, that's that's how these, you know, that's how these industries work. There's nothing wrong with it, but it leaves a huge hole at the bottom of people speaking to the dabblers or the beginners or the not career changers, but like career adjacent.
Aaron
00:17:33 – 00:18:06
So I think the MySQL for developers course is a good example. Like, all the content is not for DBAs. A DBA would know almost everything in the course, but the audience is developers who want to be better at databases. And so I think you have this advantage because once you learn a whole bunch about all these embedded BI tools, it's gonna be harder to talk about here's how you do it from the point of view that of someone who hasn't ever done it. So I think pay super close attention as you're learning about all this stuff because that advantage slowly wears off as you learn it.
Aaron
00:18:06 – 00:18:14
You become more and more an expert and you forget that like there are a lot of beginners out there who are currently in your stage, and you can write for them.
Colleen
00:18:14 – 00:18:23
Okay. That makes sense. Yeah. Because when I think of our product, this is how I've been thinking about it based on the calls we've done. We are selling to product managers
Aaron
00:18:23 – 00:18:23
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:18:23 – 00:18:39
But we need buy in from the developers. And so what I see and, again, this is a small sample size. But what I see is, like, there's a, you know, a actual person in my office, and he is not technical, and he needed reporting.
Aaron
00:18:39 – 00:18:39
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:18:39 – 00:18:43
So he went with Power BI because it was the only thing he had ever heard of.
Aaron
00:18:43 – 00:18:43
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:18:44 – 00:18:49
And so you're targeting kinda that person who's, like, the product person who may or may not be technical.
Aaron
00:18:49 – 00:18:49
Mhmm.
Colleen
00:18:50 – 00:19:08
And that person would be new to BI. We're not targeting as we talked about, we're not targeting data scientists who know how to use all the BI tools. We're targeting the companies that don't have data scientists, don't want a full time data scientist or BI expert, but still need the embedded data out.
Aaron
00:19:09 – 00:19:09
Yes.
Colleen
00:19:09 – 00:19:13
Okay. Yeah. That sounds good. Then I'll do I like that idea. I feel like you're absolutely right.
Colleen
00:19:13 – 00:19:30
Your comparison of BI tools to database was spot on. Like, the information out there is for people who are professional data scientists. And for people like everyone else who needs embedded reporting, there's there's nothing there. So, I like that idea.
Aaron
00:19:30 – 00:19:45
Yeah. It also makes your life easier because you don't have to go into, like, the nitty gritty detail of certain types of pivot chart differences between these 2. It's like, no, dude. That's that's for the data scientists. They don't I don't care about that.
Aaron
00:19:45 – 00:19:47
So that makes your job a lot easier.
Colleen
00:19:47 – 00:19:54
Yeah. And I am someone who has little patience. So if something doesn't work or it is not obvious how it works quickly, I get annoyed.
Aaron
00:19:54 – 00:19:56
You become furious.
Aaron
00:19:56 – 00:19:58
I become furious? Okay.
Colleen
00:19:58 – 00:20:01
So I this thing happened with butter CMS.
Aaron
00:20:01 – 00:20:02
Oh, classic.
Colleen
00:20:03 – 00:20:14
Oh my gosh. I was very nice, but, like, it took them, like, a week to get me in touch with the developer. But I was like, oh, this non technical support people for technical products.
Aaron
00:20:14 – 00:20:16
Anyway Bad idea. Yep.
Aaron
00:20:16 – 00:20:16
Bad idea.
Aaron
00:20:16 – 00:20:50
My, my my wife is also the same way. If something, like, if something annoys her, she quickly like, these minuscule things, she'll just, like, get furious. And one of the things is, like, you know how sometimes your silverware drawer or, like, your your utensil drawer has the little, like, it gets stuck. You try to pull it open and it gets stuck because something has gone askew and askance. And I've had to tell her, like, okay, if it gets stuck, like, you can't just pull as hard as you can because whatever is stuck is gonna break, so maybe just like, maybe just let me know.
Aaron
00:20:50 – 00:20:56
And she's like, Well, I solved the problem, didn't I? I'm like, Yeah, I guess technically, but our spatula is now broken.
Colleen
00:20:57 – 00:20:58
That's amazing.
Aaron
00:20:58 – 00:21:09
And it's funny because she's like the, you know, the most gentle person in the world, but these little things, like when a drawer doesn't open, it just sends her into a whole another dimension. It's the funniest thing ever.
Aaron
00:21:09 – 00:21:10
I love that. I, so I
Colleen
00:21:10 – 00:21:31
was trying out Tableau to write this content. So what I'm gonna do so this is kinda cool. I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take for the content, I'm gonna take a simple thing, for simple file upload and, like, reporting and do embedded Tableau do embedded Tableau. Sorry. Tableau, do embedded Power BI, but, like, the schema explorer in in Tableau.
Colleen
00:21:32 – 00:21:45
So I let me just tell you this. So I hook up my database to Tableau, read only access, obviously. And so this is I'm gonna just explain it to you real quick. So what I have is I have users are connected to Teams through a membership.
Aaron
00:21:45 – 00:21:46
K.
Colleen
00:21:46 – 00:21:49
And then a team can have many buckets
Aaron
00:21:49 – 00:21:49
k.
Colleen
00:21:49 – 00:21:51
And a bucket can have many files.
Aaron
00:21:51 – 00:21:51
K.
Colleen
00:21:51 – 00:22:02
Tableau couldn't figure out the join table. So I had to, like, manually go into their visual they want like, they don't they want it all visual. Like, they have blocks. They're like, here's your tape. Drag your table in.
Colleen
00:22:02 – 00:22:09
So you have to, like, drag the user's table in. Drag your team's table in. It's like, oh, I see those are connected. Right? Because those are has many and belongs to.
Colleen
00:22:09 – 00:22:16
That's easy. So it connects those. Then I try to drag in the memberships table and the users table, and the whole thing is just like, nope. Yep.
Aaron
00:22:16 – 00:22:18
Can't do it. Can't figure it out.
Aaron
00:22:18 – 00:22:25
I was like Yeah, man. Those those visual things work for, like, the first 90% of the way, and then you're totally hosed, and it's super frustrating.
Colleen
00:22:25 – 00:22:32
Yeah. It was it was, like, I had to, like, go in. I mean, it was fine. I figured out how to do it, but it was also kinda, like, why did you even give me this visual edge Yeah. Editor?
Aaron
00:22:33 – 00:22:37
As you're learning all this, will you take a whole bunch of screenshots for me and put them in the
Colleen
00:22:37 – 00:22:40
That's a great idea. Somewhere? Yeah. I will do that. Yeah.
Colleen
00:22:42 – 00:22:50
So yeah. But, like, so that's something that, you know, just be yeah. Which is frustrating. I was like, okay. So now not only do I have to tell you how these tables connect.
Colleen
00:22:50 – 00:22:55
Fine. I would have to do that with SQL anyway. I have to figure out how to tell you how these tables connect in your interface.
Aaron
00:22:56 – 00:22:56
Right.
Colleen
00:22:56 – 00:23:03
Literally, all I'm trying to report is, like, the number of images uploaded per day per user for a user. Right? That should be so easy.
Aaron
00:23:04 – 00:23:29
Yeah. And that's the frustrating thing is you could do that in SQL pretty quickly, but instead you're doing this runaround where it's you're trying to build it in their proprietary thing. I saw something on Hacker News come up the other day that was like, we solved SQL or we wrote the the new version of SQL and it's better. And everybody was like, you know, sequel's fine. Like, I don't really have a problem with sequel.
Aaron
00:23:29 – 00:23:36
Good luck with your thing. And, you know, I personally feel the same way. Like, sync sync was fine. I don't I don't need a huge abstraction on top of it. So
Colleen
00:23:37 – 00:23:41
Yeah. And that was the thing is I was like, okay. This feels like a completely unnecessary abstraction.
Aaron
00:23:41 – 00:23:44
Yeah. Alright. What else you got? Next topic.
Colleen
00:23:44 – 00:23:44
That's it.
Aaron
00:23:44 – 00:23:45
That's it.
Colleen
00:23:45 – 00:23:45
We hit the list.
Aaron
00:23:45 – 00:23:46
That's all.
Colleen
00:23:46 – 00:23:46
Yeah.
Aaron
00:23:46 – 00:23:56
Wow. Okay. Well, next week is 4th July week. So we have a few days off at Planet Scale. We've got Monday, 3rd, and then 4th, of course.
Aaron
00:23:56 – 00:24:02
And then we also do every month, the 1st Friday of every month we have off, which happens to fall
Colleen
00:24:03 – 00:24:03
Oh, nice.
Aaron
00:24:03 – 00:24:07
Next week. And so, yeah, it's a 2 it's a 2 day work week, which,
Colleen
00:24:08 – 00:24:08
Nice. Yeah.
Aaron
00:24:08 – 00:24:24
It's not not gonna be very productive for anybody. But, yeah, that'll be awesome. So I'll be able to I'll be able to get a lot done, next week. And then on a different note, I think this weekend, I may go look at some minivan.
Aaron
00:24:25 – 00:24:26
Yeah. You are.
Aaron
00:24:26 – 00:24:36
Yeah. Is that, like, the most embarrassing thing you've ever heard? I mean, they're they're just too practical, and I think we might need a minivan. So if if you
Colleen
00:24:36 – 00:24:37
see drive now?
Aaron
00:24:38 – 00:24:57
I drive a 4 Runner, and Jennifer drives a VW Atlas, which is like a midsize SUV. But, you know, it's getting to the point where kids can start to climb in and out, and it's like, I don't wanna freaking pick them up in the doors at the grocery store and the garage. And it's like, dang. We gotta get a minivan, don't we? So pray for me.
Aaron
00:24:58 – 00:25:05
I don't I don't wanna be a minivan dad, but I think it's coming. So I'm gonna go look at one of those this weekend. So that's my exciting that's my exciting news.
Colleen
00:25:05 – 00:25:09
This is exciting. I'm telling you, once you get those automatic sliding doors, you're never gonna go back.
Aaron
00:25:09 – 00:25:10
Do you have a minivan?
Colleen
00:25:10 – 00:25:10
Yeah.
Aaron
00:25:10 – 00:25:11
Of course,
Aaron
00:25:11 – 00:25:12
I have a minivan. Okay. I've had
Colleen
00:25:12 – 00:25:14
a minivan for 8 years.
Aaron
00:25:14 – 00:25:16
Okay. That makes me that makes me feel better.
Aaron
00:25:16 – 00:25:16
There's so
Colleen
00:25:16 – 00:25:19
many there's so much room for activities. There's so
Aaron
00:25:19 – 00:25:19
many
Colleen
00:25:19 – 00:25:23
cup holders, automatic sliding doors. It's real nice.
Aaron
00:25:23 – 00:25:23
Yeah.
Aaron
00:25:23 – 00:25:25
It'll grow on you quite quickly.
Aaron
00:25:25 – 00:25:34
Okay. Alright. Well, that's good to hear. That's what everyone that owns one says is like, yeah, it kinda sucks, but, man, you're never gonna go back. Like, okay.
Aaron
00:25:34 – 00:25:37
Well True. Must be something to it. Alright. Anything else?
Colleen
00:25:37 – 00:25:38
That's it.
Aaron
00:25:38 – 00:25:39
Alright. We will end it there.
